DELCOBRAS Coming for the Tunraround
Delco Power-Pop Trio to Release Anthem Ahead of Spring Training
HAVERTOWN, PA: When the Phillies lost to the New York Mets in last year’s National League Division Series, Jim Lorino was crushed. It didn’t help that his band was falling apart and he was slipping in his ongoing efforts at losing weight.
But nothing keeps a Phillies fan down. Inspired by Trea Turner and the Netflix documentary The Turnaround, it wasn’t long before Lorino channeled his disappointment into a power-pop anthem celebrating the eternal promise of second chances.
Driven by chunky guitar chords, a chugging bass, and heavy-hitting drums, “The Turnaround” is the debut song from Jim’s new band, Delcobras. The name is a tribute to Delaware County, which bassist Marc Schuster and drummer Nick Cervini call home.
“We rehearse in Marc’s basement in Havertown,” Lorino explains. “And Nick lives around the corner. I’m from Northeast Philly, but they’ve accepted me as one of their own.”
Delcobras will release “The Turnaround” on February 21, just in time for the Phillies’ first preseason game against the Detroit Tigers. If the song is any indication, this might just be their year!
