I’ve been reviewing books for the New York Journal of Books recently. So far, I’ve reviewed the latest from Dinaw Mengestu, Charles Burns, and James Franco. I also found a little bit of time to paint this week. It’s one of those off-weeks where, miraculously, I don’t have (m)any papers to grade. Unfortunately, the painting was a little rushed and looks it. I did, however, learn a few things as I worked on it, and might return to similar themes the next time there’s a break in my grading schedule.
