A song of mine called “Your World Now” became available on streaming services last week. On the surface, it sounds like it could be a wistful breakup song in the style of Jens Lekman or Belle & Sebastian, but it isn’t really influenced by any personal experiences beyond the broad strokes of realizing that the world is changing and that I’m okay with handing the reins over to people who will do things differently than I would.
Everything’s a joke until it isn’t.
Everything is fun before the fade.
You look around and see how much you’re missing
And start to wonder how much you’ve been played.
I’d love to stick around for your next episode,
But something’s calling me from somewhere far away.
We could have been a thing. I guess we’ll never know.
Remember me the way I looked on my best day.
Funny how in dreams I’ve never met you,
Even so, I’m haunted by your name:
A little voice that won’t let me forget you
Though it needs to leave you all the same.
I’d love to stick around for your next episode,
But something’s calling me from somewhere far away.
We could have been a thing. I guess we’ll never know.
So just remember how I looked on my best day.
It’s your world now.
It’s your world now.
It’s your world now.
It’s your world now.
Everything is sad until it isn’t.
Everything is dark before the day.
Even when you see how much you’re missing.
You’re gonna keep on moving anyway.
I’d love to stick around for your next episode,
But something’s calling me from somewhere far away.
We could have been a thing. I guess we’ll never know.
Remember me the way I looked on my best day.
It’s your world now.
It’s your world now.
It’s your world now.
It’s your world now.
It’s your world now.
It’s your world now.

One of your most beautiful songs ever Marc, and your vocals have never sounded better! I love the gentle melody and shimmery keyboards.
Thank you, Jeff! Your kind words mean a lot to me. I was really trying to channel some heartfelt vulnerability on this one!
I believe this is one of my favorites. Many people can relate to it.
Thanks, Mom! I’m glad you like it!

Love it too man. Moving lyrics, some heavy stuff the way I take it all in
