Naive Nature Debuts Separation Anxiety

No interview this week, so I’ll tell you about the show I went to on Friday. It was a release party for the new EP from naive nature (they like the little n’s), Separation Anxiety. I’d spoken to Jackson Vincent about the show a little while back, so I knew he was very excited to be playing at the venue, PhilaMOCA. The place used to be a mausoleum showroom; the MOCA in PhilaMOCA stands for Mausoleum of Contemporary Art. It’s a great venue. Not a bar. Just a performance space.

As some folks may recall, Jackson used to be in Scoopski with me, Nick Cervini, and Jim Lorino, who now plays drums in naive nature in addition to fronting DelCobras. So Nick and I went down to the show to support our old bandmate (Jackson) as well as our current bandmate (Jim). I mention this because a local DJ, John Vetesse, was also at the show. He played our song, “The Turnaround,” on his local music program earlier in the week, so it was nice to have a chance to thank him in person.

The show itself was a lot of fun. Jackson had invited a few of his favorite local acts to play on the bill: Quiet Time, Some Ghosts, and Longfriend Timefriend. Everyone brought their A-games for a wild mix of punk, rock, pop, and Philly flavor. Needless to say, naive nature really tore up the stage, blazing through their ep without a break and playing their older tunes as well. John Vetesse had also played naive nature’s music on his show, and Jackson took a minute to thank him from the stage in a touching show of gratitude. Class act all around, that Jackson Vincent.

  1. Sounds like a great show, and a fine venue as well.

    1. True on both counts!

  2. It’s nice of you to support your current and former bandmates. I like the cross-pollination you guys have going on and that apparently you’re still good friends – not necessarily a given in the oftentimes unfortunately ego-driven music business. I missed that new EP by naive nature who are also entirely new to me. I sampled each of the tracks on “separation anxiety” and like what I heard!

    1. Thanks, Christian! Yeah, we’re all good friends, always helping each other out however we can. Glad you like the songs on Separation Anxiety!

      1. That’s great, Marc. I don’t mean to belabor it, but I feel annoying egos oftentimes get in the way of the kind of comradery you guys evidently enjoy. Hope it’ll stay that way!

      2. Me too!
