AMS Radio

Just a quick note to say that I’ve started serving as the Program Director for AMS Radio. I’ve written about the ups and downs of the station in recent months due to various actions taken by the current presidential administration. Those ups and downs are ongoing, so I was honored when Quizboy (the station’s proprietor) asked if I’d step in to handle programming for the station. Up until now, it’s been a one-man operation, so I appreciate the trust that Quizboy is putting in me to do the job.

My plan is to continue to continue adding new music over the next few weeks. I’d like to bring the same ethos to the station that I’ve been bringing to my radio show over the past few years, focusing on new music by independent artists regardless of the size of their following or the number of streams their music has garnered. If I like it, I’ll play it.

Of course, I’ll also be playing tracks by established acts that fall under the “alternative” umbrella as well: punk, new wave, grunge, experimental. One of my favorite things to do when I was in high school and college was to put together mixtapes of cool bands for friends of mine. Now I’ll get to do it on a slightly larger scale.

I invite you to listen to AMS Radio whenever you get a chance. I’ll be learning the ropes for the next few weeks, but with any luck, you’ll start to hear my influence on the station fairly quickly. And if you have any music you’d like me to play, feel free to drop me a line via the contact form on this blog!

    1. Thanks, Chris!

  2. That’s great to hear, Marc. You’re a good man, with what seems to be a boundless fount of energy.

    1. Thanks, Jeff! This is the kind of new challenge that really captures my attention and energizes me with possibilities.

  3. I know this cool new band who I can highly recommend. They’re called DelCobras!😂

On a more serious note, that’s pretty cool, congrats!

Have you ever heard of The Heavy Heavy? They have a cool retro psychedelic pop sound. I’m planning to include this song in my upcoming Sunday post. Sounds like the Mamas and Papas and check out that neat organ sound, which could be Alan Price of The Animals!

    1. Hmm… DelCobras… Sounds vaguely familiar!

And I like that song by The Heavy Heavy… Love that organ!

      1. Glad you like that song by The Heavy Heavy. I’m a huge fan of that ’60s organ sound. I wonder whether it’s a Vox Continental or a Hammond. In any case, it just sounds cool to me!

      2. Me too!

  4. Congrats on the new position! Pretty exciting!
