First, this is kind of funny: When folks refer to my band, DelCobras, as “The DelCobras,” I wonder why it’s so hard to drop the “the.” Then, of course, when I went to type the title of this post, I initially wrote “The Hot Pennies” before checking myself. It’s just Hot Pennies. Maybe adding a superfluous “the” is just human nature. Just ask the Talking Heads.
Anyway, Hot Pennies–which I almost referred to as “Talking Pennies” because of that last joke, which makes me wonder what pennies would say if they could, in fact, talk,* but I digress–have a new song called “All Work and No Play,” which, upon further inspection, is actually called “All Work No Play” (no “and”). The track heralds the coming of a new EP, which has yet to be named, which, in turn, is probably a good thing in the sense that I’d probably screw that up, too.
It’s a raucous, punky garage-rock tune about the dangers of working too hard–and too much. Great guitar tones. Plenty of echo. Fun tune all around. Also cool, you get three tracks with your Bandcamp purchase of this one: the song, an instrumental version, and an a capella version in case you want to focus on the lyrics.

Funny post! I guess many people of a certain age and/or folks who are into music by the likes of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, The Animals, The Monkees, etc. are so used to having a “The” at the beginning of a band’s name that they automatically see it, even if it’s not there! 🤣 In any case, “All Work No Play” sounds great!
