In the latest episode of Abominations Radio, I chat with my good friend Brian Lambert about balancing art and commerce. This will actually be the final episode of the radio show. I like chatting with artists, but recording and editing our conversations takes a massive amount of time and effort. I don’t know if I’d call it burnout, but I feel like I need to reserve my energies for other projects.

Brian does like to wax philosophical, but it’s one of the things we love about him! I’m sad to see you stopping the radio show, but I fully understand there’s only so much time in a day or week, and we need to prioritize the things we most wish to accomplish.
Even though I’m mostly retired, it never ceases to amaze me how quickly time rushes by, and I never seem to have enough time to read all the articles and blog posts and listen to all the music shared by our fellow bloggers or sent to me by musicians, bands and their PR reps in the hopes I’ll write about it, let alone the time it takes to write about it! At times it all becomes too much.
Thanks, Jeff. I know what you mean about the rapid passage of time — and the sheer amount of music that people ask us to listen to with an eye toward helping them promote it. That said, I actually have one more episode of my radio show scheduled for next week. In place of an interview, however, I’ll be saying “Donald Trump is a fascist” 1800 times over the course of an hour while a cacophony of electronic sounds wails in the background. Don’t worry about my voice, though: I only spoke the sentence once, then copied and pasted it to fill up the hour. I’m also not expecting anyone to listen to it all the way through, but it does make for some good background to noise to combat the constant gaslighting we’ve all been facing for the past month.
Your response never showed up in my WP notifications feed. Wow, you’re going out with a bang, and I look forward to hearing that “Trump is a fascist” post! I’m nearly beside myself with a combination of heartbreak, terror and fury at the firehose of mendacity, cruelty, illegalities and bullshit emanating from Trump, Musk and the entire GOP. I feel helpless and hopeless against this onslaught. and literally want to strangle everyone who voted for this, or failed to vote at all.
I’m right there with you!
