Tonight at 7PM EST, AMS Radio will run an hour-long recording of mine titled “One Fact Repeated.”
The repeated fact in question is as simple as it is obvious to those of us who care about democracy: Donald Trump is a fascist. While I understand that the majority of my friends already know this fact to be true, I put together a recording in which I can be heard repeating it 1800 times against a cacophony of electronic noises in an effort, vain though it may be, to counteract the constant gaslighting that the current administration in the United States is engaging in.
I’m not going to claim that “One Fact Repeated” is particularly engaging. As a piece of music, it’s incredibly repetitive. But then again, so is the constant drumbeat coming out of Washington, DC, these days. They keep telling us that they’re making America great by firing civil servants by the thousands, giving a billionaire access to our most sensitive data, and renaming the Gulf of Mexico. They’ve proposed turning Gaza into a resort and annexing Canada and Greenland. They’ve abandoned Ukraine and buddied up to Russia. None of this is normal. None of this is good.
The Trump administration, of course, says otherwise, and it’s almost enough to make one doubt one’s sanity. Hence “One Fact Repeated.” I’m thinking of it as sonic wallpaper, background noise to drown out the lies that they’re trying to foist upon us, a bulwark against the madness. That Trump is, in fact, a fascist is worth saying and repeating if only to state the truth clearly and without ambiguity, so I invite you to tune in and say it with me as the spirit moves you:
