Kelly Cresswell of Widnes in North West England has a new song called “Good Old Fashioned Love” out today. It’s the first single from her debut album Under the Stairs and features a funky bass line provided by her son Owen. Cresswell explains, “I wrote this song when I was deeply saddened by the lack of human contact we had during 2020. The lyrics emerged from quite a dark place, but I do enjoy the challenge of turning negative experiences into positive relatable songs!”

“Good Old Fashioned Love” has a neat groove. While the album itself isn’t available on any of my streaming providers, I saw various of the other tracks that first appeared as singles in 2025, such as “Above the Noise”, “Runaway” and “My Regrets.” They all sound pretty good to me!
The acoustic guitar on the album cover made me think the track would be folky, but I was pleasantly surprised by the song’s funky, poppy feel.
