Music News

No interview this week, but here’s some indie music news…

Hats off Gentlemen, It’s Adequate will release their eighth studio album, The Uncertainty Principle, on Bandcamp in March with a wider release in May. As the title suggests, the album explores the concept of uncertainty, and offers, in the band’s words, “a mixture of vocal and instrumental tracks, combining elements of progressive/alt/art-rock, electronic, and contemporary classical music.”

Zaq Baker has released a new single. Produced by Hunter Sinclair Hawthorne of afters, “Bri” is a peppy morsel of electronic pop confection about meeting someone special and falling in love. He also has a book coming out, a work of literary fiction titled Unspectacular. There’s a cat on the cover. And a piano. And a flood. You can see it all on Zaq’s website. Word has it that Megan Rose of afters bought a copy recently, and as we know, she likes Kurt Vonnegut, so…

Terry Gomes has a lovely new tune out in advance of a forthcoming album. The tune is called “A Recurring Thought,” and Terry explains that it’s a “poignant song of longing in which a repeated musical phrase (leitmotif) represents a recurring thought.” Terry plays guitars on the track, and Arien Villegas offers up some nice, percolating congas. A second single will be available in March with the album being released in April.
